Diabetes vitamins and supplements are in the mind of people hoping that this will help them. Not only that, they are bombarded with ads purporting the magic some of these pills are supposed to have. The question therefore is if there is a site that can do a good job of explaining the ins and outs of vitamins and supplements.

Here is what one expert has to say. There is no official recommendation as to what diabetes vitamins and supplements are good to take. There are plenty of choices some of which have research to back them up. Some do not even have the backing of clinical trials to prove that they are effective.

The bottom line is that one who is thinking of taking diabetes vitamins and supplements has to educate himself. Talk to someone who is an expert on this. But whatever you find, make sure you talk to your doctor about your plan. Then once you start the regimen one at a time mind you, monitor your body's reaction to it.

So can we fight diabetes with vitamins and supplements? Really, if there's such a thing that will help us in our battle against diabetes, we will all know it by now. And probably, it will be listed in the stock exchange and the price may have gone through the roof.

So what's in this for us? Try not to be concerned about it as researchers are working hard to find something for us, something that will rival the likes of insulin which deep in my heart I doubt. For one thing, insulin is life-saving. I hope I will not have to eat my words someday because one never knows.

The day may be closer than we think. Oops, I spoke too soon, didn't I? Never mind for anything they discover for the diabetics is good enough for me. I will only be too happy to swallow my pride and eat my words then.

Professor Jianping Ye, MD at Baton Rouge, Louisiana's Pennington Biomedical Research Center is deep at work on a laboratory research to identify the therapeutic agents to treat type 2 diabetes. He said that there exists a body of research but none is scientifically established yet as the miracle drug.

Any member of the health care team can recommend a supplement as long as he can be sure of the safe dosage and can monitor you for these are like drugs that can interact with the other medications and can make the blood glucose go down too low. That is why it is good to consult with your doctor regarding the use of supplements.

The supplements that have been most often used are alpha lipoic acid, omega 3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q10, Magnesium, garlic and chromium. All in all, the news has been good; we just have to exercise good care. Now how about vitamins?

Multivitamins are good to take for how many of us can take five to nine servings of fruits a day? Not me, no matter how much I try. Research has shown that we do not get enough servings of nutrients so it is best to take a multi vitamin as an insurance. So hopefully we have cleared the mud a little bit for diabetes vitamins and supplements.
