Please acknowledge that not all diets are equal. Changing to a healthy diet does not fix every illness or disease; one diet does not suit all!
For instance, a diet to lower your blood pressure or tackle inflammation and arthritis would need different types of food than you would use to correct diabetes type 2. There are a number of foods you would have to choose from for a diabetes diet. For example: A type of food that has high magnesium content such as dry roasted almonds, roasted cashews, mixed nuts, soybeans mature cooked, spinach, potatoes baked with skin, rice - brown long-grained, lentils, kidney beans, wheat bran, plain yogurt, avocado etc.
Cinnamon: This most common spice is not only good for blood pressure, it also lowers cholesterol and protects against heart disease. By taking cinnamon on a daily basis this will help to metabolize glucose, avoid and fight free radicals. Cinnamon can also stop oxidative damage to cells that occurs when blood sugar levels remain high. It seems to good to believe that this simple and common spice is also a super-nutrient for diabetes.
Another one to watch out for is zinc. Keeping your zinc level up represents a safety net for type 2 diabetes patients, also for people with pre-diabetes. Zinc can also protect against prostate cancer in men. Food sources of zinc include oysters, ginger, split peas, beef liver, beans, buck wheat, sardines and chicken, just as a starter. Use plenty of fresh herbs like basil, mint, parsley, rosemary, paragon and lime.
Natural food is the best medicine!
This is where natural food plays a large role in keeping your gut bacteria and stomach healthy.
What you should eat is a diet of toxin-free proteins, cooked at low heat, healthy good fats and carbohydrates. Another good fat that comes from fresh coconut and coconut oil, good oils including omega 3, 6 and 9 are one of the missing links in reversing diseases and diabetes.
With the right preparation of food you should not go more than three to four hours without food during the day, otherwise you will tend to overeat. According to research, by simply eating less food than normal at meal times especially dinner will lower blood sugar level.
Being on a diet and pursuing an exercise program makes a big difference. This is where variety of things becomes more effective and also where supplements can act much quicker and more successfully.
A word of caution: If you are starting on a natural diet in addition to any medication you are on, do so only under the close supervision of a qualified health professional!
